The Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George have been announced as the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma 2018 nominees for the annual Lumen Christi Award from Catholic Extension. The Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George have been serving in the diocese in various ministries for over 30 years, but most notably as teachers at St. Catherine School in Tulsa. Their Congregation's charism is to make the merciful love of Christ visible and they have seized that opportunity in the remarkably diverse, low-income setting of St. Catherine School. The Lumen Christi (or “Light of Christ”) Award is given by Catholic Extension every year to honor an individual or group working in one of America's mission dioceses that demonstrates how the power of faith can transform lives and communities. Please see the May issue of the EOC for full coverage of the ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George.
