The thirteen Catholic schools (listed below) in the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma enroll approximately 4,500 students every year and are blessed and thankful for the many dedicated professionals who staff the schools.
We are committed to curriculum and instruction designed to meet not only the present, immediate needs of students, but also to prepare students to be just and prayerful adult Christian leaders of the future. Our schools create an atmosphere of faith, hope, and prayer where teachers and students alike can discuss and nurture the image of God in one another.
We are especially blessed in this Diocese to have the support of Bishop David A. Konderla and many individuals who have made a strong commitment to Catholic schools and its mission of teaching the message of Jesus Christ. Because of the dedication of so many, the Diocese created and continues to fund the Saint Francis of Assisi Tuition Assistance Trust in an effort to give more families access to a Catholic school education. The Trust provides need-based tuition assistance to students in both the elementary and secondary schools of the Diocese every year. Since its inception in 1999, over $6 million has been allocated.
Pope Benedict XVI, in his April 17, 2008 Address to Educators at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, said: “Education is integral to the mission of the Church to proclaim the Good News. First and foremost every Catholic educational institution is a place to encounter the living God who in Jesus Christ reveals his transforming love and truth . . . Those who meet him are drawn by the very power of the Gospel to lead a new life characterized by all that is beautiful, good and true . . . .” (cf.Spe Salvi, 4)
