Our Mission is to foster, affirm and promote vocations to the ministerial priesthood and vowed religious life in the Catholic Church. Serra Clubs are throughout the US and around the world.
The Serra Club of Tulsa, as a member of the United States Council of Serra International, was an active Catholic men’s organization of the 1960’s, but became inactive about 40 years ago. An attempt to resurrect the club was made by Fr. Joe Townsend while he was serving as a newly ordained associate pastor at St. Pius X Parish, about 1990, after which the effort was taken up by Fr. Tim Davison in his early years as the Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Tulsa. The Tulsa Serrans were actually chartered as an official Serra Club on August 15, 1999 (established August 15, 1995). As a group of men and women functioning as part of the “lay vocation arm of the Catholic Church,” the club works closely with Bishop David Konderla and the Diocesan Office of Vocations.
