According to the norms of Canon Law, the Marriage Tribunal is responsible for addressing petitions for decrees of nullity, as well as other canonical matters as assigned by the Bishop. This includes processing pre-nuptial investigations for weddings either to be celebrated in the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma or those of the faithful of the Diocese who may be planning to marry in another diocese.
The long-standing custom in our Diocese is that all petitions for decrees of nullity begin in one’s parish with an advocate—a pastor, deacon, or lay person specially trained for this vital and sensitive pastoral ministry. Our office can assist a petitioner and/or respondent to connect with an advocate.
The Diocesan Faith and Works Appeal fully subsidizes the expenses involved and there is no cost for any petitioner or respondent involved in a petition in the Diocesan Tribunal. We are located at the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma Chancery at 12300 E. 91st South, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
